Is The Strike Almost Over???
It was a busy weekend in writers strike world. Apparently, the WGA met Saturday to discuss the tentative agreement made with the AMPTP. Guild leadership unanimously recommended the agreement to the membership. This means the members now get to vote to accept the contract or not. This process will take about two weeks.
Leadership also called for a Tuesday vote to end the strike during this two week ratification process. If the majority of the membership agrees to it, the strike could be over and the writers could be back to work on Wednesday with a new contract in place in the next few weeks. This is great news! Congratulations writers!
Maybe we'll get those last eight episodes of LOST Season Four after all!!!!

The Harley Fund Is Growing
I sent my 2007 tax returns out today. I'm happy to report that my refund is a bit more than expected. The Harley fund is getting a nice little bump this year!For those of you who don't know, I have been saving every extra dollar I can to buy a new bike. I could drive out to the Harley shop right now and just buy one, but I want to buy the first one without having to borrow any money because I don't want another payment. Plus, if I want to trade up in a year or two, I won't have to finance much at all (if any).
It won't be much longer... I can't wait to someday come home from work and take the Hog out for a nice ride through the country! It's been a long time coming but it'll be well worth it one day!

A Lesson In Love
Tonight I went to St. Awesome's for a Super Bowl party/Chili Cook-Off. I left around halftime and drove downtown to Yesterday's to meet up with my Dad and a few of his co-workers. They've started this new tradition of meeting up at Yesterday's to play pool, have a few drinks and watch the Super Bowl. While I was there I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and noticed I didn't have any signal. I asked Dad to check his phone, too. He flipped his phone open and, sure enough, he didn't have signal either. I tell all of this to get to my main point:
When he flipped his phone open I noticed that the picture on his phone is my Mom's senior picture from high school. I can't really explain it, but the fact that he had this picture on his phone spoke volumes to me. My parents have been married nearly 35 years. That's almost unheard of in this day and age. I just thought it was really neat that he chose this picture as his wallpaper. My Dad loves my Mom dearly and I consider it an honor to be their son. I have been blessed with tremendous parents who have raised me to be the man I am today.
That picture reassures me that when God sees fit to bless me with a wife I know I have been well trained in love. My Dad has been a shining example of what it means to love your wife, support your wife and respect your wife. If I can treat my bride half as good and love my wife half as much as my Dad loves my Mom, she will be one lucky woman!
Thanks Dad for the "on-the-job-training" you have provided over the years. You have shown me what a man is meant to be, most of time without even trying. I will never forget the feeling I felt tonight when I saw that picture. I'm proud to call you my father and I hope you are just as proud to call me your son.

A Few Things I Learned From My LOST Party
-When fixing Chicken Parmesan, it's always a good idea to actually turn the oven ON.
-When you're planning to take pictures at a gathering such as this, it's always a good idea to actually have a camera.
-While the girls are eating, they guys will play Guitar Hero just because it's there and we can.
-When you cook for 10-14 people, all the dishes will not fit in the dishwasher in one load (or two or three).
-One benefit to cooking WAY too much food - you don't have to worry about lunch the next day (or dinner for that matter).
-I really need to buy some Zip-Lock bags
-When you plan to do a Live LOST Blog, it's a good idea to actually take notes and do it.
-Never, ever, under any circumstances, pause the show to ask a question (Love ya Sis!)
-When you have a LOST party, you won't get anything done at work the next day.
And finally the most important thing I learned from the LOST party...
-I have been extremely blessed to have such great friends.
I want to thank everyone for coming over. It was an absolute BLAST! I'm already planning the menu for the next LOST party which is probably going to be for Episode 8. Last night we set a record for the most people in my house at one time. Let's see if we can break it next time!
